Yvette Reyes

Artists Bio

YMR also known as Yvette Michelle Reyes is a self-taught, Mexican American artist hailing from Toledo, Ohio. Shortly before their fourth birthday, their thirty-eight year old mother was shot and killed. This traumatic event caused a deep instability within the family leading them to move multiple times. Attending over 15 different schools, made making and keeping friends a challenge, as this was pre cell phone and internet era. Instead, their best friends were their limited art supplies. YMR’s art has mostly been an autobiographical expression, used as a means of escapism and survival conveyed through dreamscapes and surrealism. Their first solo gallery showing will be a reflection on self and motherhood.

Interactive Cultural Tours

Schools, boy scouts and all groups are welcome to learn more about Latino culture with special  hands on cultural  tour.

Please know that during this time, we are still committed in providing students and individuals opportunities to learn about the Latin culture. During COVID19, we are able to host groups but there may be limitations in the types of activities and # of participants. Please contact us if you are interested and we would be more than happy to see how we can make it work!

Join us for a little latin culture whether it be cooking, art or dance!  We provide an interactive cultural experience to private groups such as schools, organizations, after school programs, daycare centers, etc.

We can offer up to a four hour tour that allows youth and attendees to learn about SQACC's mission and what we do. They will work with our Art Coordinator on a latin inspired art project and then head into the kitchen to make their own lunch! We can also offer dance classes, a visit to our bees, that produce our "Honey from the Hood" and more.

Cultural tours can be tailored to your group depending on the size and length of time you desire.

All groups welcome

We can accommodate groups from 10 to  over 50. Questions? Contact us below or scroll down and download the registration form for pricing and other info.
